The 2012 Update
Ash and I celebrated an official one year for our domestic partnership back in April (we'll have been together five years come October).
Got laid off suddenly and without any warning that the company was in trouble back in April as well (been there almost three years).
Can't seem to find another job anywhere (depressing).
We adopted one cat out, a sweet dog out, but still have four fosters looking for home. Anyone in Austin or the surrounding area want a pitbull/boxer mix, two kittens, or a really awesome orange cat? You can find out more about them here (can't seem to find homes for them at all - very depressing).
Ash and I will be speaking in Salt Lake City next month at a Social Media conferences about using Twitter to help animals (it's Ash's first time speaking at a conference!).
I create a new design portfolio (and have a more corporate one as well).
I am the new editor of Fuel Your Branding (will be updated today).
Merlin, after almost a full year of being diagnosed with heart failure, is doing amazing. He has a special feline cardiologist he goes to and they all call him the miracle cat (and they are amazed at how big he is).
After a year of living in our house, we're finally unpacking the last few boxes (HUGE accomplishment).
I will be doing NanoMango next month so be warned! There will be posts (yay arts!).

There's probably more, but that's all I can remember for now. Life has lots of ups and downs right now - trying to keep my spirits up, but not finding a job and getting rejected left and right gets to you. It'll be okay though. I'm getting there.

fires update.
Realized I forgot to post here. Ash and I are located in East Austin, about 20 minutes away from the Cedar Creek/Bastrop Fire. Our cars are packed and ready to evac with all 20 critters if we have to.
We can see and smell smoke from our house but since it hasn't gotten closer, I came to work today but on edge waiting to find out where the next fire is going to spring up. Found out a few minutes ago there was one 5 minutes away from old house. This is insane.
Ash is keeping folks updated on us as well as what people can do to help both people and animals over on our RescueAnimals twitter account.
So far, we're all good and so is family and friends down here. Some have been evac'd, but nobody hurt.
Keep Texas in your thoughts please. And send us rain.

Annual check-up... NO, NOT THAT ONE!
Alive and well... breathing. But even though I don't blog, I do have enough time in my life for a daily 140 character post. You know the drill, if you have one, follow me on twitter. Good times all around.
What has happened lately in my life? I moved closer to downtown Austin, got a little weirder, was promoted at work, flew to DC, spent a day in Boston, got sick (of course), and joined an Organic Gardner's Society. Despite that last bit, my talent for killing any plant I try to grow is as strong as ever. I try. Stupid plants.
Maybe I should stop singing to them.
Other than that. I'm here. What's new with you all?

quick update.
On top of everything else (so much crap in my life right now).
Merlin, my first cat, who is only 3 years old, has congenital heart failure.
I don't know what to do.
The most handsome cat in the world.
He's home and on meds as we try to stabilize him, but at this point, all we can do is make him as comfortable as possible and tell him we love him. I love him so much.
My heart is breaking.
I'm sure he could use as many good thoughts and prayers as he can get right now.
